The organizers of a winter race coming to Chicago want participants to get naked and run -- or almost naked.
Cupid's Undie Run is a Valentine's Day-themed race advertising itself as a "brief" run of approximately one mile. Participants are encouraged to strip to their underwear and run through the streets of Chicago, all in the name of charity.
The Chicago race takes place Feb. 7. It begins at John Barleycorn on Clark Street and takes runners in a loop around Wrigley Field. Additional laps are optional for those scantily clad runners who need a little more time to warm up.
Proceeds from the race benefit the Children's Tumor Foundation and support research for Neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow in and on the body.
In honor of the victims of Neurofibromatosis, each city that hosts Cupid's Undie Run designates an "NF Hero." Chicago's hero is a 13-year-old named Jack, who was diagnosed with the disorder when he was 4 years old and had a brain tumor removed at 8 years old.
Cupid's Undie Run, which began in Washington, D.C., in 2010, expects to register 30,000 runners in 38 cities around the U.S. and in Australia.
Registration for the race costs $55 and can be completed online.
