Kevin Kline Believes We Need a “Big Chill” for the Obama Era

Kevin Kline believes 2010 might be a good time to check back in with "The Big Chill" crowd.

The actor reacted favorably to the concept of a "Big Chill" reunion in light of the political and societal changes that are in the air.

"It's not a bad idea," the star, appearing in the new film "The Extra Man,"  tells PopcornBiz.

His reasoning is that the times they are a'changing. The 1983 classic film was all about a group of grown-up college friends running up against life's cynical realities and their 60s ideals. But we're in another new era.

"I think everyone knows where the idealistic values of the '60s are now," says Kline. "They are starting to come back. Perhaps its part of the pendulum swing. We're back and we're not cynical."

Kline says that director Lawrence Kasdan is asked the question about a reunion often, but "he has always said no." That said, he promised us he'd ask him about it.

One concept would have the characters, mostly selling-out in some way in the original film, giving back to society.

"And then they'll be wiped out in a huge explosion," laughs Kline. "There has to be an explosion. You do know that. It's a contemporary film."
