Cornish, Not Banks, Co-starring With Cooper in “Dark Fields”

Abbie Cornish is traveling from a "Bright Star" to "Dark Fields."

Cornish will star as Bradley Cooper's ex-wife in this futuristic thriller about a man who stumbles upon a super-powerful "smart drug" that comes with some harrowing side effects, like being chased by murderous goons, reported Variety.

Two weeks ago it had been rumored that the talented and gorgeous Elizabeth Banks would have the role, but the switch to Cornish might be a wise one.

With both Cooper and Banks known primarily as comedic actors, their presence would possibly skew the audience's expectations and perceptions of what promises to be an intense, noir-ish tale, that will be directed by Neil Burger ("The Illusionist") .

Cornish has also been cast in Madonna's upcoming film "W.E.," about the romance of Edward VIII and Wallace Simpson, which also stars Vera Farmiga.
