"Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" stars Steve Carell and Keira Knightley as two neighbors who strike up a friendship only after it's learned that the Earth is about to be destroyed by a giant asteroid. That could be fun, right?
Written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, the film has delivered it's first trailer, which features a few great lines from Carell and Patton Oswalt. The film boasts impressive supporting cast of players that includes Melanie Lynskey, Adam Brody, Connie Britton, William Peterson and Rob Corddry.
Scafaria made a name for herself with the script for "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist," an indie romcom starring Michael Cera and Kat Dennings that was reasonably funny and cute. Here, Scafaria makes her directorial debut, working with her own script, and while we haven;t seen the whole film, the trailer seems a little too sunny for her voice. That said, she probably knows her voice better than we do, and there are some nice visual touches--like the dude doing chin-ups while wearing a gas mask.
"Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" opens June 22.
