Natalie Portman's “Black Swan” Drops a Creepy Trailer

Here's the pitch: it's a psychological thriller that's a cross between "Fight Club" and "The Fly," set in the world of professional ballet. It can't miss!

Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis are a pair of ballerinas competing for the professional and personal attentions of their ballet director, played by Vincent Cassel in director Darren Aronofsky's new film, "Black Swan."

Throughout the trailer we watch as Portman slowly loses her grip, falling deeper and deeper into despair. Rumors that Kunis' character is actually an facet of Portman's tortured psyche appear to be true, which would make the much ballyhooed sex scene between the two actresses all the more fraught.

The camera work, the tension, the music, the drama are all vintage Aronofsky, a man whose has plumbed the depths of many a dark side as director of "The Wrestler," "Requiem for a Dream" and "Pi."

Portman and Cassel are both known quantities, but it's great to see Kunis apparently making the most of her chance to take her career to another level. Her film career since "That '70s Show" has been spotty, but she was great in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and did nice job in "Book of Eli."

And man does Barbara Hershey come off as all sorts of creepy as Portman's doting stage mother.

"Black Swan" arrives Dec. 1.
