In addition to the impressive slate of films in competition at the Cannes Film Festival, the town in southern France will once again host the Director's Fortnight, started in 1968 "to aid filmmakers and contribute to their discovery by the critics and audiences alike."

Michel Gondry, whose last film, "The Green Hornet," left almost everyone feeling disappointed, will kick off the Director's Fortnight with a screening of "The We & The I." The film was shot in the Bronx, and follows a group of kids taking the bus home on the last day of school.

Other notable films include Rodney Ascher's "Room 237," a documentary that looks at Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining" and its hidden meanings, as well as "Sightseers," a comedy about a camping trip gone wrong from from director Ben Wheatley.
