"Hope Springs"--formerly known as "Great Hope Springs" and not to be confused with the 2003 Colin Firth film "Hope Springs"--delivered a trailer that has us suspecting that we are not the target demo.

The film stars Meryl Streep as a middle-aged woman whose 31-year marriage to Tommy Lee Jones has gone stale. While he naps in his lounger, she longs for his touch. When she can't take it any longer, she drags him to Maine for some intensive counseling from Stave Carell, who encourages them to once again be intimate.

It looks to be another run-of-the-will romcom made fresh by centering on a couple of old people. Lazy jokes about inattentive men aren't funny when the men are in their 30s--tacking on another 20 years doesn't help.

David Frankel, who directed Streep to an Oscar nomination in "The Devil Wears Prada", is at the helm here, working with a script from "Game of Thrones" scribe Vanessa Taylor. We're guessing the sex in "Hope Springs" will be of a different flavor entirely.

Frankel is coming off "Big Year," one of 2011's biggest flops, making only $7 million, despite starring Owen Wilson, Steve Martin and Jack Black.

"Hope Springs" opens Aug. 10.
