Bill Murray A Go For “Ghostbusters 3”

If you heard word that Dan Aykroyd was putting together a third “Ghostbusters” movie and got visions of “Blues Brothers 2000” dancing in your head, perhaps this small bit of news will help put you at ease. Aykroyd told Ain’t It Cool News that Bill Murray will be back for this installment. Which is nice, given that I spent at least five years of my childhood wanting to be Peter Venkman when I grew up. I’m sorry! THIS IS JUST NOT YOUR DAY! Here is the official scoop (spoiler ahead):

Hi Harry… just writing to let you know that Bill Murray did piece in this Sunday's Mail on Sunday supplement where he confirmed he will be in Ghostbusters 3 but as a ghost. Don't know if it's new to you but I thought you might be interested. If you want a copy of the article, let me know.

Thanks

Dan

Here is Murray’s exact quote from that article: "I said to them, 'I'll do it if you kill me off in the first reel.' So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film."

Murray also lamented the second “Ghostbusters” movie, saying special effects took the place of comedy. “The second one was disappointing, because the special-effects guys took over. I had something like two scenes - and they're the only funny ones in the movie.” Let’s hope his agreement to be in the next movie, dead or alive, gives this third “Ghostbusters” the dose of Venkman I think we all crave.
