Okafor, Alexander to Announce College Decisions on Friday

The two best high school players in Chicago, and also the country, are set to make their college choices

On Friday, two of the top high school players in Chicago, and in the country, will announce their decisions on where they’ll play college basketball next season.

Whitney Young’s Jahlil Okafor – rated No. 1 in ESPN’s top 100 – will choose between Duke, Kansas, Baylor and Kentucky, while Curie’s Cliff Alexander – rated No. 3 – will decide between DePaul, Illinois and Memphis.

“I'm excited to announce my college decision on Friday Nov 15th, 3pm at Whitney Young high school. Be there and thanks for all the support,” tweeted Okafor on Monday.

Not surprisingly, the same exact tweet – albeit referencing different high schools – was also sent out by another top recruit, Minnesota point guard Tyus Jones. He and Okafor have long been rumored to have made the decision to play college basketball at the same school.

The rumor mill is speculating that Okafor and Jones will choose Duke, while Alexander -- in a shocker -- will pick Illinois in a what would be seen as a watershed moment in the program's history.

ESPNU will televise a signing day special on Friday beginning at 3 pm local time to cover the announcements of these top recruits.
