Memphis Grizzlies Interested in Bulls' Pinckney

Chicago Bulls assistant Ed Pinckney will interview for the Memphis Grizzlies head coaching position

Chicago Bulls assistant coach Ed Pinckney is on a list of candidates for the Memphis Grizzlies' open head coaching position. Pinckney has served on Tom Thibodeau’s staff for the past three seasons and spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He was also an assistant coach at his alma mater, Villanova, where he won a National Championship in 1985 and was named the most outstanding player of the NCAA Tournament.

The Bulls organization granted permission to the Grizzlies to interview Pinckney after deciding not to offer their current head coach, Lionel Hollins, a new contract. Other head coaching candidates on Memphis’ list include former Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl, former head coach of the Phoenix Suns, Alvin Gentry and current assistant n their own staff, Dave Joerger.

The Grizzlies advanced to the Western Conference Finals this season after finishing with a regular season record of 56-16.
