Prince William and Kate Score New Digs

Palace officials recently announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be upgrading their digs in 2013. When in London the newlyweds currently reside at Nottingham Cottage, a one-bedroom apartment at Kensington Palace where Prince William reportedly has to stoop to avoid hitting his head on the low ceilings.

Prince William and Kate's future home, Apartment 1A, was Princess Margaret's abode until her death in 2002. The four-story house boasts its own walled-in garden, a nursery, five bedrooms and three reception rooms, which the The Telegraph points out is certainly spacious enough to begin a family. The flat is currently managed by the charity Historic Royal Palaces, and requires some renovations to the heating and plumbing systems before the royal couple can officially move in.

According to a royal aide, "Renovating their new home will be a massive job and the Duchess will likely approach it as she did their wedding–taking advice where needed but ultimately making the decisions herself." Let the interior decorating begin!
