Inside Vladimir Kagan's Carnegie Hill Home

Jessica Kagan Cushman, daughter of renowned furniture designer Vladimir Kagan and embroidery/needlework designer, Erica Wilson, gives a tour of the home where she grew up. Located in one of Manhattan's historic and pre-war co-op buildings, this Carnegie Hill home is full of modern furniture and abstract designs by her parents and is on the market for $7,750,000.

It’s a furniture formula that we might never tire of: Take an iconic piece like Le Corbusier’s LC2 chair for Cassina (shown left) and freshen it up with a bright, bold hue. A growing number of furnishings firms are doing just that, issuing midcentury modern masterpieces in jazzy colors such as turquoise, lemon yellow and acid green. Here are a couple of our favorites like Hans Wegner’s Wishbone perch in blue (it will come out in pink next month) and Jens Risom’s Scandinavian-sleek, walnut upholstered bench, coffee tables and seating from the 1950s and ‘60s.
