Sen Bill Nelson at the last minute altered his Stanley Cup wager to require a little more physical exertion.

Nelson, a Tampa Bay Lightning fan, made good on his hockey bet after his team lost the championship to the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night. The original wager was that the loser would have to do as many pushups as the total number of goals scored during the series.

But the 72-year-old Democrat made a deal with Durbin Wednesday that instead of handing over the sandwiches he would double the number of pushups from 23 to 46.

Durbin accepted, and Nelson completed the 46 pushups as his interns watched.

After Nelson finished the two shook hands, and Durbin admitted, "Thank God you lost and I didn't, you be taking me out on a stretcher!"

In addition to the pushups, Nelson earlier this month wagered a box of some of Tampa's and Florida's famous Cuban sandwiches if the Lightning lost. Durbin wagered Chicago's famous Garrett Mix popcorn and 312 beer from Goose Island Brewery if the Blackhawks lost.

Reps. Robert Dold and David Jolly also put food on the line. Dold (IL-10) wagered Chicago-style deep dish pizza from Lou Malnati's against Jolly's (FL-13) blackened grouper from Florida.
