Blackhawks Assign Brandon Davidson to Rockford

Davidson has one assist in 10 games this season

The Chicago Blackhawks made a roster move on Sunday morning, assigning defenseman Brandon Davidson to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

Davidson, who has one assist in 10 games with the Blackhawks, has been dealing with injuries at times this season and has struggled to get into the lineup as well. He will head down to Rockford, where he will be able to get more regular playing time with the IceHogs.

The move is seen as a precursor to the Blackhawks potentially activating defenseman Gustav Forsling from injured reserve. Forsling has been out since early January with an upper torso injury, but head coach Jeremy Colliton said that the injury wasn’t a significant one.

If Forsling is brought up by the Blackhawks, they will be carrying eight defensemen again, as Slater Koekkoek could potentially make his team debut this week after being acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Blackhawks will next be in action on Monday night when they head to New Jersey to take on the Devils. Coverage starts at 6 p.m. and the game will air on NBC Sports Chicago.
