The Chicago Blackhawks lost a player off of their roster on Sunday as forward Viktor Tikhonov was claimed off of waivers by the Arizona Coyotes.

Tikhonov, who has appeared in 11 games so far this season with the Blackhawks and scored zero goals, was placed on waivers on Saturday. Reports had circulated that Tikhonov would return to the KHL rather than accept a demotion to the AHL, but that is now a moot point as he’s headed to the desert.

The Blackhawks signed Tikhonov to a one-year deal during the offseason, but he was unable to find a consistent place in their lineup. Ultimately he was a healthy scratch during the majority of his time in Chicago, so he’ll be hoping that his next stop in Arizona (where he began his NHL career) will be a more fruitful situation.
