Patrick Sharp in Running for NHL 14 Cover

31-year old winger needs to finish in top 16 of voting to move on in cover race

For the second year in a row, EA Sports is holding a contest where fans get to vote for their favorite player to adorn the cover of the next edition in the NHL video gaming series. For Chicago Blackhawks fans, they have the opportunity to vote for forward Patrick Sharp, who defeated Duncan Keith in the preliminary round of voting last week.

Currently, Sharp is battling it out against 15 other players from the Western Conference, including Detroit’s Pavel Datsyuk, Los Angeles’ Anze Kopitar, and Alex Pietrangelo of the Blues. From those sixteen, eight players will advance to the round of 16, where a head-to-head bracket battle awaits.

There are several ways to vote for Sharp for those interested in doing so. Fans can go to covervote.nhl.com and can vote as many times as they want on that site. In addition, fans who do will be entered for a chance to win tickets to a 2013 Stanley Cup Finals game.

In addition, fans can vote on Twitter using the hashtag #NHL14Sharp. On Thursday, each tweet featuring that hashtag will count as two votes, and from Friday until Sunday at midnight, each tweet will count as one vote.

In voting results posted by EA Sports on Thursday afternoon, Sharp is currently in the top 16 of voting.
