Hawks Headlines: Goalie Talk Name of the Game

Also, Daniel Carcillo isn't happy with his play

As promised, Madhouse Enforcer is proud to present Hawks Headlines, a series of posts designed to track down the latest news surrounding the Chicago Blackhawks. We’ll also have random videos and stories that can be found around the web, so if you’re ever wanting to get your Hawks fix, you have to look no further than right here.

  • Before we get into goaltending talk, Mark Lazerus is reporting that Dave Bolland will not play in Friday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings, and that goalie Corey Crawford will be in net. Is this an audition to grab back the starting job, or is the tide in favor of Ray Emery? [Chicago Sun-Times]

  • Scott Powers leads off the avalanche of coverage of Emery vs. Crawford with this quote from head coach Joel Quenneville:

“(Some years), it’s clear who is going to be the guy. This year, I can honestly say, both guys definitely get strong consideration based on performance. I think we’re a position where, well, let’s see how it goes right now without showing our hand. If both guys continue doing what they’re doing, we’ll be in a real nice situation.”

Clearly, this is a decision that Quenneville has not made yet, meaning that there can be more debate on it! [ESPN Chicago]

  • With that in mind, Greg Boysen thinks Crawford should be given the chance to earn his job back. [Second City Hockey]

  • But Jay Zawaski is on Team Emery [Red Light District]

  • Mercifully moving aside from the goaltending talk, Daniel Carcillo isn’t happy with his play this year. He talked at length about it, and the interview gives an intriguing look into his psyche during what has to be considered a down year for the winger. [CSN Chicago]

  • Finally, have you ever wondered how the United Center is converted from the ice for the Blackhawks to the hardwood for the Bulls? Well, here’s your answer. [Chicago Tribune]
