In today’s edition of Hawks Headlines, we take a look at a Chicago Blackhawks defenseman that could be earning some serious Norris Trophy consideration, which of the Hawks’ lines has really been stepping up lately, and whether or not Patrick Kane can reach 100 points this season.

  • We start out with a bit of a weird link. According to the Hawks’ website, the team will be unveiling new third jerseys this week (presumably to be used in the Stadium Series game against the Pittsburgh Penguins in March), but the article is confusing. It says the alternate jersey will be unveiled on Friday, November 27th…….but the 27th is a Wednesday. [Blackhawks.com]
  • According to Mark Lazerus, Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith is quickly becoming one of the biggest contenders for the Norris Trophy, given to the league’s best blue liner. [Chicago Sun-Times]
  • In his weekly column about advanced statistics, Sam Fels uses various metrics to show that the Hawks could be playing even better than they did during their President’s Trophy winning campaign of a year ago. [Committed Indian]
  • For fans who have been watching the Hawks’ past few games, the fourth line has really been stepping up in a big way, and things came to a head Monday night with Marcus Kruger picking up an assist and Ben Smith playing excellent hockey all over the ice. [CSN Chicago]
  • Patrick Kane is on an 11-game point streak right now, and the level of success he is experiencing led Scott Powers to ask a couple of questions. First, what is so different for him? The second is whether or not the changes to Kane’s game could mean he’ll clear the 100-point plateau for the first time in his career. [ESPN Chicago]
  • In case you missed it yesterday, the Blackhawks sent Jeremy Morin down to Rockford on Tuesday, presumably to make room for Mike Kostka on the active roster. [Chicago Tribune]
  • Finally, the IceHogs made another move on Tuesday, inking defenseman Brett Skinner to a try-out contract. They also released defenseman Blake Kessel from his PTO. [Icehogs.com]
