On what might be a day of gloom in Chicago following the Chicago Blackhawks' 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final, it might hearten some to think back to the events of this date five years ago.
On that day, Patrick Kane scored the goal that only he knew he scored as the Blackhawks knocked off the Philadelphia Flyers and clinched their first Stanley Cup championship in nearly half a century.

Thinking back to that date reminds one of all of the outstanding moments from that playoff run. Kane’s short-handed, game-tying goal against the Nashville Predators. Marian Hossa’s game-winner after he had come out of the penalty box on a major penalty. Dustin Byfuglien’s outstanding series against the Vancouver Canucks, punctuated by his incredible hat trick. Duncan Keith’s shot block with his teeth against the San Jose Sharks.
All of those moments were legendary, but Kane’s will arguably have a longer shelf life than any of those memories.
