Corey Crawford Named NHL's Second Star of the Week

The Chicago Blackhawks have won six consecutive games, and one of the biggest reasons for their success was honored by being named one of the NHL’s Three Stars of the Week.

That player is goaltender Corey Crawford, who was named the league’s Second Star after a strong weeklong performance for the Blackhawks. Over the course of three starts, Crawford posted a perfect 3-0-0 record with a 1.00 goals against average, and he earned a shutout victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night at the United Center.

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov was named the league’s First Star of the Week, while New York Rangers center Kevin Hayes was named the Third Star.

Overall on the season, Crawford has a 2.01 goals against average with a 6-3-1 record and a .936 save percentage. He has helped lead the Blackhawks into the lead in the Western Conference Standings, as they currently sit at 9-3-1 after a weekend sweep of the Dallas Stars at the United Center.

Crawford will next be in action on Wednesday night when the Hawks take on the St. Louis Blues in a divisional showdown at Scottrade Center.
