Blackhawks Place Versteeg on LTIR, Recall Rasmussen

The winger has missed nine games after injuring his hand

With a long road trip coming up and Daniel Carcillo still serving a suspension, the Chicago Blackhawks made a roster move on Sunday as they placed Kris Versteeg on long-term injured reserve and recalled forward Dennis Rasmussen from the Rockford IceHogs.

Versteeg, who was injured during the Winter Classic on Jan. 1, hasn’t played since the injury, but it’s unclear exactly when his injured reserve designation is retroactive to. The designation means that he has to miss a minimum of 10 games, and he’s already missed nine total.

As for Rasmussen, he signed with the Blackhawks in the offseason after previously playing in the Swedish Hockey League. In 44 games with the IceHogs this season, he has eight goals and eight assists. His goal total is currently tied for third on the team.
