Thousands of Jobs Left in “Safe Summer Youth Program”

We may be in a recession, but that's not stopping Mayor Richard Daley from rolling out jobs for Chicago's youth.

The mayor unveiled the city's "Safe Summer Youth Program" Tuesday morning.

It includes placements for 287,000 children and teens in a variety of programs focusing on sports, history and other areas.

One of those programs provides 19,000 jobs with the city and its sister agencies.

There are thousands of openings left, and the mayor is urging parents to enroll their kids soon.
