Police Shoot, Kill Suspect's Dog

Chicago police officers shot and killed a German shepherd they said was attacking them last night in the city's Chicago Lawn community.

Police were investigating an offender with a dog on South Sawyer Avenue at about 7 p.m., police News Affairs Officer John Henry said.

"During the course of the investigation, the German shepherd attacked the police officers. They had to fire shots and kill the animal," Henry said.

No other injuries were reported and it was not known if an arrest was made in the original investigation.
