An off-duty Markham police officer did not act improperly when he shot three people who were committing a robbery, according to Markham Deputy Police Chief Tony DuBois.

Chicago police detectives interviewed the officer about the shooting in the South Shore neighborhood Saturday morning. DuBois told Chicago Breaking News a representative of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office determined it was "a good shoot."

"The officer acted appropriately when he fired his weapon," DuBois said. "He did what he was trained to do."
