Man Tries to Lure Boy With MP3 Promise

A Pilsen neighborhood man was arrested Friday and charged after he allegedly solicited a boy,12, into sexual relations by saying he would purchase the child a MP3 player and a cell phone, police said.

Cesar Hernandez, 28, of 1654 S. Allport St., was charged with indecent solicitation, predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to a police report that said the charges were approved at 3:50 a.m. Saturday.

Also Saturday, Hernandez was ordered held on $75,000 bond and he is scheduled to appear for preliminary hearing in Violence Court later Tuesday, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Department of Corrections Web site.

Hernandez was arrested at 12:55 a.m. Friday after police officers responded to a call of an assault in progress. When police got to the scene they spoke to the victim’s mother through a Spanish interpreter and asked the woman what occurred.

The victim’s mother said that while Hernandez was babysitting the victim, a 12-year-old boy, on May 20 he allegedly said to the victim,“If you let me make love to you I will buy you a cell phone and pay for the service for a year and will also buy you an MP3 player,’’ according to the report.

Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
