Toddler Found Alive in Home With Murdered Parents

A toddler was found alive inside a home where a man and woman were murdered early Monday morning.

The husband and wife's bodies were found in a home in unincorporated south Joliet.  Police said they died of some sort of trauma, but could not be more specific.

The Will County Sheriff's Office confirmed Monday afternoon that the deaths were being investigated as homicides.

Neighbors reported being awakened at 2:30 a.m. by a loud boom.

The man's ex-wife called police at about 7 a.m. to say she had found the pair. The bodies had not yet been removed from the home as of noon Monday, as the investigation continued.

The ex-wife was being questioned Monday afternoon.

The surviving toddler is in the custody of DCFS. Two other kids, ages 7 and 5, were with the ex-wife for the weekend.

The man's new wife was the leader of a Girl Scout troop, but her identity has not been released.
