A man who was shot to death Tuesday night on the South Side was dropped off at a nearby hospital by a friend who then fled, police said.

Officers responded to a call of a person shot on South Loomis Street about 10 p.m. and learned upon arriving at the scene that the victim was taken by an unknown friend to Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers in Evergreen Park, according to police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.

Walter McKeever, 23, of Harvey, was pronounced dead at Little Company of Mary at 10:38 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

No one was in custody as of 6:30 a.m. Wednesday and Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
