Flags at Cemetery Not Part of Investigation

Red and orange flags scattered throughout Burr Oaks Cemetery were not placed by the Cook County Sheriff's Department and are not part of any investigation, a spokesman for the department said Thursday.
Family members had likely questioned the presence of the flags while checking on loved ones who are buried the cemetery after investigators discovered that human bodies had been interred so the burial plots could be resold in an off-the-books operation.
