Firefighters are battling a blaze in a building that contains both apartments and a retail establishment in the Pilsen neighborhood on the Near Southwest Side.
The still-and-box alarm fire was called about 3:30 p.m. at 1735 W. 18th St. Our news partners at Telemundo report heavy smoke.
The fire department says there are no known injuries at this time.
Traffic is reportedly being diverted around the area of the fire and 18th Street from Ashland to Damen is closed to traffic.
