City Council Turned On By Electric Vehicles

A Chicago City Council committee has approved a plan to authorize electric vehicles on city streets and to test low-speed electric taxis in the downtown area.

The full City Council still has to approve the "green fleet" plan.  If they do, five electric cabs would quickly be out and about downtown, and residents would legally be allowed to use neighborhood electric vehicles -- that can only go about 30 mph -- on city streets.
