A 12-year-old boy fractured his foot after apparently jumping from a third-floor window early Thursday on the South Side.

About 1:15 a.m. the boy fell from a third-floor window of his residence at 7559 S. Essex Ave., according to a South Chicago District police sergeant.

The boy was verbally disrespecting his grandmother and when his mother went into the room to discipline him, she saw him near the window, police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said. He apparently jumped.
