Andre Sliwa, 36. His mom found evidence of his betrayal while changing his bed sheets.
Police have charged a 36-year-old registered child sex offender with draining his mother's checking account.
Andre Sliwa moved into his mother's Carpentersville home in November 2008. Court documents indicate that he took charge of getting the mail each day. When it appeared that her bank statements had stopped coming, Sliwa's mother began asking questions.
He lied and told her that the bank had changed hands and was no longer sending out bank statements. Well enough, she thought, but became more suspicious when she found a stack of bank statements while changing the no-good's bed sheets in the family room.
She called the bank and learned that her account had gone from $34,000 -- money left her by her husband when he died 18 months ago -- to $100.
A police investigation pointed to the 36-year-old, The Daily Herald reported. Sliwa was arrested and is due in court on July 7.
His mother told police that she thinks her boy has a drug problem. It looks like that's not the only problem he's got.
