3-Year-Old Critical After Beach Emergency

A 3-year-old girl was hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday night after choking at a beach on Chicago's South Side, officials said.

Chicago Fire Department emergency personnel responded to the beach house at Calumet Beach about 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, said Fire Department spokesman Quention Curtis.

The girl, who authorities said suffered a cardiac arrest after choking on water, was taken in critical condition to Advocate Trinity Hospital.
