An internal investigation at the Indiana State Prison where three inmates escaped indicates that three correctional officers may have been negligent in their duties and have been suspended while an investigation concerning their involvement in the escape is completed.
A news release from the Indiana Department of Corrections states that constant supervision of inmates is required when they're working in the tunnels, which are believed to have been used in the escape.
Two of the inmates had done maintenance work inside the tunnel system as part of a supervised work crew.
