1,000 Steelworkers Face July Lay-Offs

Up to 1,000 Indiana steelworkers are looking unemployment in the face, following an announcement by their employer, Arcelor-Mittal, that "mass layoffs" are planned for July.

The company is the world's largest steelmaker, but it is facing tough economic times and operational decisions like many others.

The workforce reduction is hitting the Indiana Harbor Flat Carbon facility.

Company leaders said in a public statement, that they hope the laid-off employees can be called back to work as soon as the economy improves.
