There's a lot to wrap your mind around with the approaching Chicago Ideas Week, and we're helping with series of speaker profiles designed to highlight the benefit to you.

In this profile: Niéna Drake

Accolades: An Emmy-winning TV producer who was also named N'Digo's "hottest DJ on the planet."

Why you should care: Nothing in this world exists in a vacuum, businesses included. Sooner or later you're going to want to reach out to your public and host some kind of event, for whatever reason. Maybe you want to thank your loyal customers or give them a chance to network with one another. Events like those are pivotal -- and it's a topic we've touched on before -- and it's not exactly like entrepreneurs are known necessarily for being social butterflies or knowing what goes into making a big party work. Drake does.

She's got more than a decade's experience as a DJ, and her experience is supplemented with years as a wardrobe stylist, special events manager, and events host. Entrepreneurs might be great at crafting some clever ideas, but Drake will be able to help connect the dots and offer some insights into what every big bash should have to be a huge success. And no, we're not talking about bean dip.

When you can see her: October 15, Oriental Theatre, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
