Lara Miller Shows Off the Un-Project Runway Workroom at Macy's Fashion Incubator

At Macy's Fashion Incubator on the 11th floor of the State Street store, the workroom is filled with the whirring of sewing machines, the snipping of scissors, and the laughter of six young designers working feverishly on their collections. But if this reminds you of Project Runway, think again. Program director Lara Miller says that though the designers are all in high gear in the week leading up to tonight's Fashion Incubator show, the mood is still cooperative.

"The designers don't compete against each other," says Miller. "They're all working on such different collections." From menswear to plus sizes, all the fashion hits the runway tonight at the CFI show in Millenium Park. If you're a designer who thinks he or she could benefit from the Incubator's program, applications are accepted through November 8. In the meantime, click play to watch the designers in the feverish last few days before their big debut. [The Feast]
