When Flirty Girl Fitness first opened its doors in the West Loop 5 years ago, it was an instant success. The appeal was obvious, with sexy, hard-bodied instructors preaching a girl-power mantra that proved to be an irresistible draw for women turned off by the testosterone-heavy atmosphere of most gyms.
The business was featured on Oprah and co-owner Kerry Knee was named one of Playboy's sexiest CEOs.
Knee feels now is the time to expand the brand further, opening a new location at 2215 N. Halsted over the weekend.
"We've had so much demand to open up more locations. Our classes in the West Loop are packed, there's a huge waiting list to get in, and we had to open up a location soon, and thought the women of Lincoln Park would be perfect," Knee said.
The new facility is bigger than the original location, and will offer more services, such as personal training and additional cardio rooms.
Knee turned to popular design house 555 to create the space, which she says will be a template for future expansion.
"Our goal is to roll out 20 more studios in the next five years in all of the major cities," Knee says.
