Johnny Knox Released From Hospital

Wide receiver underwent surgery to repair damaged vertabrae

Johnny Knox was home for Christmas.

A source told NBC 5's Peggy Kusinski that the speedy Chicago Bears wide receiver was released from the hospital on Christmas Eve.

Knox suffered a violent hit during the game against the Seattle Seahawks, fracturing a facet joint, which supports the spinal column.

Knox underwent surgery to repair the damaged vertabrae, and will need three to four months to recover from the hit that distorted his body.

According to the source, Knox's outlook is "bright."
