Chicago Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long has been having a strong season at right guard, but his campaign could be on hold, according to a new report.
That report, from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, says that Long is expected to miss six to eight weeks with a foot injury that he suffered in the Bears’ Week 8 win over the New York Jets at Soldier Field.
The Bears could potentially put Long on injured reserve with a designation to return, freeing up a roster spot while allowing Long to have an opportunity to play again if the Bears reach the playoffs this season.

In the meantime, the Bears will likely have to make due with the linemen on their roster. Eric Kush, who sat out last week’s game with a neck issue, is expected to play against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, according to head coach Matt Nagy. He could potentially slide over to right guard, with rookie James Daniels remaining at left guard.
The Bears could also give playing time to Bryan Witzmann, who is currently listed as Long’s back-up on the team’s official depth chart, or Bradley Sowell.
