The Chicago Bears suffered a slew of injuries on Monday night, but none were bigger than the hand injury suffered by quarterback Jay Cutler.

Cutler was sacked in the third quarter of the game by Destiny Vaeao, and appeared to injure his throwing hand on the play. Cutler did stay in the game after the hit, but after a badly thrown incomplete pass and an interception later in the quarter, he was removed from the game and went to the locker room.

After a brief time, Cutler was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

After the game, Cutler appeared for his press conference with a cast on his right thumb. The quarterback will undergo more tests on Tuesday, according to the Bears.

According to Cutler, he suffered the injury early in Monday's game, but the injury was aggravated when he was hit by Vaeao in the third quarter.

"I'm concerned," Cutler said of the injury.

If Cutler is unable to play in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys, Brian Hoyer will likely start in his place. The Bears will also likely bring David Fales off of the practice squad to join the 53-man roster, or they could go outside of the organization and acquire another quarterback to fill that role.

If Cutler misses the game, it will mark the second consecutive season that he has missed Week 3 on the Bears' schedule. Last season Cutler missed the team's Week 3 game against the Seattle Seahawks, and the Bears were shutout in the defeat at Centurylink Field.
