Bears Sign D.J. Williams at Linebacker

Brian Urlacher and Nick Roach are gone from the Bears linebacking corps. and the Bears needed to find a new body to patrol the middle, and one to patrol the strong side.

They started with a replacement for Urlacher, and found it in former Bronco D.J. Williams -- who has a rocky history in the league.

The Chicago Tribune first reported Williams' signing and he confirmed it with this tweet:

When Williams plays, he's a fast linebacker who can get to the quarterback.

But the big concern is that he didn't play many games last season.

He was suspended twice in 2012. One suspension turned into a six-gamer for violating the league's performance-enhancing substance policy. Williams also missed three games for being arrested for the second time for driving under the influence. He also once got into trouble with the Broncos for posting his playbook on Twitter.

But he also reportedly took a contract without any guaranteed money.

This allows the Bears to open up their draft plans, and not zero in only on linebackers.
