Former New Orleans Saints Director of Player Personnel was hired by the Bears as General Manager on Thursday.

The Chicago Bears made big news on Thursday when they named Ryan Pace their new general manager, and before he’s introduced to the media at an 11 a.m. press conference, we have a batch of articles to help you get to know the new guy in town.

-We start out with David Just’s list of eight things that you need to know about Pace. [Chicago Sun-Times]

-One of the interesting things about Pace is that he isn’t a guy with a lot of familiarity at Halas Hall. Phil Emery had that. Chris Ballard had that. Pace, on the other hand, brings fresh perspective, and Steve Rosenbloom digs that. [Chicago Tribune]

-Former director of college scouting for the Bears Greg Gabriel thinks that part of the reason Pace was chosen over Ballard was because the latter had too much familiarity with the team, and it scared George McCaskey and Ted Phillips. [Chicago Tribune]

-Want to know how unexpected Pace’s hire by the Bears was? He didn’t even have a Wikipedia page until they hired him. [SI.com]

-The Bears’ hiring of Pace is a good start, but the new guy has a ton of work to do. [Rant Sports]

-Mike Triplett provides the New Orleans Saints’ perspective on the Pace hire, saying that the team will miss him dearly. [ESPN]

-Finally, when Pace gets settled into his new office, Matt Eurich has some ideas of players that he should go after. [Bleacher Report]
