American Two Shot, a new store on Grand and Crosby (on the groovy side of Soho, around the corner from Smile To Go, BDDW and Michele Varian) offers up the perfect retail environment for the cool customer: fashion from an eclectic and wide variety of designers (many of whom are friends of the shop’s proprietors Olivia Wolfe and Stephanie Krasnoff), jewelry, artwork, vintage items, books and stationery, a coffee bar manned by an affable attractive guy, and no hard sells.
ATS takes a relaxed and unforced approach to the “concept” store premise, and has a low-key ambiance that encourages lingering and wandering around to check out the many items in cases, on racks, and on the walls. Ambling about in ATS is the way to go, discovering one great thing after another from a delicate gold bead bracelet to a Porter Grey dress you absolutely need, to that very funny Studio 54 matchbook in the glass case near the door.
Shop, have a coffee at Café Integral and banter with Cesar Vega who makes the delicious caffeine flow (he imports and roasts his own beans). Talk with Olivia and Steph about everything from the neighborhood to their City of Friends blog (great photography, hip party pics and very sweet photos of Olivia's and Steph’s moms), shop some more, and keep coming back.
