There's a lot of competition for the go-to attraction in the city of Chicago, but the spot that topped one list may surprise you.

Anyone who's lived in Chicago for any length of time, knows how attractive a destination it is for out-of-towners. It can be difficult to find a weekend for yourself over the summer, with friends and family jockeying for a weekend away in the Windy City.

But what is the one attraction that makes Chicago such a go-to spot? The Sears or Hancock Tower? Navy Pier? The Magnificent Mile?

According to a travel article in Sunday's New York Times, Chicago was listed as No. 14 in a list of 44 places to go in 2009, and the reason listed is the Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago, scheduled to open on May 16.

Move over Trump. The "Building of the Century" is on its way.
