Free Concerts In The Park All Summer Long

City announces lunch shows in Millennium Park

Trade that gross lunch at your cramped cubicle for some fresh air and free music in Millennium Park -- all summer long!

Mark your calendars for noon to one at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion from now until September 31. In celebration of 75 seasons, the Grant Park Music Festival is offering music ranging from jazz to hip-hop and electronica to indie rock.

“For five years, Chicagoans and visitors have come to the Park for our stellar line-up of evening concerts.  This summer, there will be a full complement of programs at noon,” said Lois Weisberg, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs.  “We hope that after a lunchtime concert, visitors can stroll and explore other parts of the Park.”

Artists and bands you won’t want to miss this June include Lawrence Peters Outfit on June 2 and June 26, Lisa DeRosia on June 14, Rose Nadolsky on June 28 and Prospects on June 13 and June 20.   The classics will be covered this summer by the Grammy-nominated Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus.

And don't forget the kids. Several days are set aside for sing-alongs and group dancing , including a mix of live music and interactive performance.

A list of the full events can be found at www.millenniumpark.org or by calling 312-742-1168.  Daily programming alerts will be posted on www.twitter.com/explorechicago.
