Shopping Should Be a Party

Gen Art's Shop Chicago event combines shopping with socializing

The annual Shop Chicago event, which takes place from 2-6PM on Saturday, March 21 at Union Station's Great Hall, is a can't-miss shopportunity for many Chicago fashionistas. This year's fashionable function, which is hosted by Gen Art, will feature clothing and accessories from more than 60 local and national designers, along with pampering in the Shop Chicago Beauty Lounge, cocktails and appetizers.

Spring collections from such designers and boutiques as Akira Chicago, Dollybird Design and Sophia Reyes will be available for as much as 70 percent off retail. Menswear will also be represented by designers selected by men's fashion Web site Thrillist, featuring looks from DemographicLoop Apparel and Tattooed Tees. Emerging designers chosen for Gen Art's recent Fresh Faces in Fashion runway show will also be showcased.

General admission to Shop Chicago is complimentary, but you must RSVP on the Gen Art Web site. V.I.P. tickets are available for $40, which will get you entrance to a pre-party reception from 1-2PM, including Menage a Trois wine and snacks from Chipotle, as well as a private preview of the merch. You'll also score a gift bag stocked with fashion and beauty goodies.
