Diane Von Furstenberg said she has submitted sketches for Michelle Obama's inaugural ball gown.

Last night at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award dinner Diane Von Furstenberg told us she has submitted sketches for Michelle Obama's inaugural ball gown. "Well, they asked me to. Of course, everybody has," she said. "I'm so proud to be an American. Otherwise, right now we would all be so depressed." But Giles Mendel told us he had not been asked to submit ideas. Thakoon Panichgul, one of Michelle's favorite designers, tried to remain elusive when we asked if he'd submitted sketches. "Um...we'll see what happens," he said with a devilish smirk. We're guessing Michelle doesn't have any Alexander Wang hanging in her closet, but the designer would like her to know it's never too late to board the Wang train. "Hey, if she's ready for some ripped jeans and T-shirts, I'm all here. All she has to do is call," Wang told us. "It's all about change, right? She can do it. No more three-piece suits, it's about change."

  • on2u Thursday, Dec 4 at 8:34 PM FLAG COMMENT sandee You are sooooo wrong it is the dems who are going to take your money and improve government funded programs. This will no longer be a capitalistic society. Everything you earn will be controlled by gov't. Big business as you say ,will not have the freedom to earn capital gains as the republicans wanted. Instead Obama will take your money for state programs. This is now a socialist society. But Michelle will always look ... MORE >
  • Anonymous Thursday, Dec 4 at 8:23 PM FLAG COMMENT kelprod I am with you ...I am sure she is proud of her country now..Who is paying for this dress?? They went after sarah palin who "borrowed" her outfits ..Micelle Obama spent $500 for an afternoon snack at the Waldorf. Now they are saying she gets her clothes at Old Navy? Yeah ..right!! Laura and Barbara Bush showed class.. did not over indulge..then again they do not have celebrity status.
  • Mama Bell Thursday, Nov 20 at 1:44 PM FLAG COMMENT IT would be so excellent if whoever makes her dress embroiders Michelle and Barack's name with the inauguation date within a hidden seam of the dress... how exciting!!!
