A fondue party was popular back in the days of thick shag carpeting and wood-paneled walls, but the communally-dipped food is making a comeback.
The best place to get your fondue on in Chicago may be The Lobby Lounge at Swissôtel Chicago.
Throughout the month of January, Executive Chef John Seagro is offering a traditional cheese fondue made with a blend of Gruyere and Vacherin cheeses and flavored with white wine and Kirschwasser, plus, a Toblerone chocolate fondue. Both of the fondue options come with dipping items and recommended wine pairings.
To shake off some of the cold weather, they're also serving Glühwein, a classic Swiss mulled wine made with apples, oranges wine, Anis and cinnamon.
If you're looking ahead to Valentine's Day and want to treat your sweetie to a romantic night of your own fondue creation, try making Chef Seagro's Fondue Chinoise.
