LOCALS ONLY: Shiny Toy Guns Rocks Chicago

Band plays secret show at Gallery 1028

They came, they played and they definitely rocked it.

Shiny Toy Guns hit the stage at 11 p.m. Thursday at a secret show at Gallery 1028 on Goose Island. Around 300 people, all of whom snagged the coveted passes here on nbcchicago.com, packed the space for the intimate show. However, ticket-goers didn't know the location of the concert until the same day.

"I've seen them in smaller venues like the Beat Kitchen and other venues in Chicago, but they really just brought it tonight," said Charlotte Barnes, a longtime fan of the band.

The group wasted no time whipping the crowd into a frenzy, playing its latest hit, Ghost Town, near the top of their set.

 Their fans appreciated the effort.

"It was a really fun show. The lighting was absolutely amazing -- great vibe, great people, great fun, great drinks," said Eric Ian, who was partying post-show in the VIP lounge.

Shiny Toy Guns played a number of tracks from their sophomore album, Season of Poison, including Richochet! and Stripped.

The Grammy-nominated group isn't sticking around Chicago for long. They have another secret NBC-sponsored show in L.A. Saturday night.
